Quick Start Guide

This guide walks you through logging into Fast8D, creating your organization's dedicated tenant workspace with a 10-day free trial, accessing your team from the sidebar, and launching your very first 8D claim.

1. Sign In to Fast8D

Every workspace member begins with a secure user account:

  1. Navigate to the Fast8D login portal (/login).
  2. Enter your work email and password.
  3. If this is your first time registering, check your inbox for the one-time verification code to activate your account.
  4. Once authenticated, you will be redirected to the Fast8D application hub.

2. Create Your Tenant Workspace

To establish an isolated organization workspace for your company, you will set up a tenant by starting with a Standard user license.

1
Select Billing Cadence (Monthly or Yearly)Standard Plan

Navigate to the Pricings section and choose between monthly or yearly billing for the Standard plan. The plan includes dedicated tenant isolation, full role-based access, and the complete 8D workflow engine.

2
Confirm Your 10-Day Free TrialRisk Free

All new tenant subscriptions come with an automatic 10-day free trial. You can explore and evaluate the platform with your team completely risk-free. If Fast8D is not the right fit, you can cancel before the 10-day trial ends and you will not incur any subscription fees.

3
Complete Secure CheckoutSecure Payment

Fill in your billing details and complete checkout through our secure payment partner. Your payment method is authorized with zero initial charge during the trial period.

3. Access Your Organization from the Sidebar

As soon as payment authorization is completed, you are redirected back to the app confirmation screen (/app/success-subscription). The platform automatically registers and provisions your organization workspace in the background.

Workspace Initialization Timing

Workspace setup is processed asynchronously in the background. It may take up to a minute to process subscription confirmation, configure access permissions, and fully initialize your tenant workspace before it appears in your sidebar navigation.

  • Look at the sidebar navigation on the left side of your screen.
  • Under the "Your Teams" section, you will see your newly provisioned organization tenant link.
  • Click on your organization's name to immediately enter your workspace dashboard (/app/tenant-[id]/dashboard).

!TIP If you belong to multiple organizations or partner with supplier/customer tenants, they will all be neatly listed under Your Teams in the sidebar, allowing one-click switching between workspaces.

4. Creating Your First 8D Claim

Once inside your organization dashboard, you are ready to initiate your first quality incident resolution:

1
D0 Intake: Basic Details & ChampionD0 Intake

Click New Claim from your Problem Solving dashboard. Provide a concise title and short summary of the non-conformity (these details power global search and filtering). Select or create the partner Company (Customer or Supplier), the relevant Project, and the Part Number. Select a Claim Template (Target-scoped) to serve as the blueprint of requirements and quality gates the claim must satisfy, then designate yourself as the internal Champion.

2
Pass the First Quality GateD0 Approval

Submitting D0 initiates the first Quality Gate of Fast8D. This approval officially logs claim opening to start tracking resolution response timings and SLAs. While multi-user teams can require peer approvers, as a solo user you simply approve it yourself to immediately start the lifecycle clock.

3
D2: Deeply Define Problem Description (5W2H)D2 Problem

Move straight into D2 to deeply narrow down the defect: scope each failure directly to its involved components, pinpoint the violated technical or customer requirement, and establish the exact facts using the structured 5W2H methodology (Who, What, Where, When, Why, How, How Many).

4
D3: Immediate Containment & Quality Cost TrackingD3 Containment

Formulate immediate containment actions to isolate the problem and protect the customer. Every action must have a designated owner responsible for execution and a clear due date. While recording costs is optional, capturing containment expenses allows Fast8D to quantify your annual Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and assess how well your supply chain is performing.

5
Track Timelines & Quality Gate ApprovalsTimeline & Gates

Within the claim view, switch to the Timeline tab to inspect calculated completion deadlines for every discipline (governed by your selected template). Next, consult the Approvals tab, which provides a live checklist of the exact deliverables and quality gates required to complete each phase and achieve final claim closure.

6
Verify Across Search, Dashboards & AnalyticsAnalytics & Search

Your newly created claim is immediately reflected across the workspace:

  • Targeted Search: Find the claim instantly using keyword search or filtering by its designated target scope (Customer, Supplier, or Internal).
  • Personal Dashboard: Appears on your home dashboard as an active "Open" claim, displaying any pending containment actions assigned to you.
  • Live Statistics: The analytics dashboard automatically factors in the claim, offering real-time partial analytics (such as open incident counts and preliminary non-conformance costs).
